Glee Singers: Singing Your Heart Out And Just Plain Singing

As you have probably heard around campus, the Regis Glee Singers are back in business with wonderful performances and great people.  Under the fantastic guidance of Dr. Heather Josselyn-Cranson, the singers have started on a high note with their performance at Convocation and their rendition of America the Beautiful.

Not only do the Glee members sing amazingly, but they are also some of the greatest people in the world.  You will often see them hanging out with each other offstage and helping others with whatever they need.  Given the variety of majors and personalities, if you ever need someone to help you with a class or someone to talk to after a hard day, any of the Glee singers would gladly lend a hand or an ear.  These admirable people continues to remain a close knit community, no matter how many new people join.

Also, many members are leaders in the communities as board members of clubs, you can go to any one of them with problems and they could help you or find someone who can help you.  Their capacity for problem solving and leading are beyond the regular person.  Since everyone in the Glee Singers takes on a leadership role within the group, everyone has a taste of what it means to encourage others in their endeavors.

The incredibly successful Spring Concert last semester revealed the range of music that they are able to sing.  One minute, the singers are singing,”Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” in their Disney medley.  The next minute, they are singing, “Agnus Dei,” from their Mass compilation.  From lighthearted to serious, the Glee singers can sing whatever they put their minds to.

However, that is not to say that they do not work hard to learn their pieces.  There is hardly a time during the day where they stop singing marvelously.  They spend months and months practicing and studying their music in preparation for the end of semester performance, whether it be the Christmas or Spring concert.  They must memorize around eight to ten pieces of music, as well as music for performances throughout the semester.  They constantly listen to the music, rehearsing their notes, and working together to get better.

One talented Glee Singer, Kimberly Graham, says that, “I joined Glee because music has always been a special part of my life.”

Another amazing Glee Singer, Kenia Ann-Tracy Pierssaint says, “I joined glee because singing makes me feel free and happy. It makes my life easier in a way.”

The Glee members are a group of dedicated people who joined Glee because of their love for music or their interest in learning more about music.  Because of their focus on music, their performances only hold more weight because they put love into their songs and allow others to understand that love.
